It’s summer here in the US and that means hosting garden parties and if you are new to entertaining guests, it might seem like a stressful experience. We offer a short guide to help you organize a garden party that your friends will remember with fondness.

Start with your garden

Your outdoor living space might need some work and that’s where the local Colombus company, Inspired Design & Contracting come into play. They can design your outdoor living space and are happy to work to your budget. Ideally, you should have the garden ready a couple of days before your event, then you can place tables and chairs and create a stunning setting.

Create a guest list

You can’t really plan anything until you know how many people are going to attend; email or text message is the best way to send out invites, unless, of course, it is a formal event. Once you know your numbers, you can plan a menu and make sure a wide range of drinks are available for your guests. Make sure that you cater for all tastes, especially when it comes to music; an open-style buffet is the best way to cater for a gathering of family and friends.

Call in the caterer?

Unless you are prepared to handle everything in-house, we recommend using a local caterer, as you can relax and enjoy time with your guests while the caterer takes care of the menu. It is much better to let the professionals handle the pressure while the host relaxes with their guests.

Check for permits

Check with your state government regarding party restrictions; keep the music volume down and why not invite the neighbors? That way, you won’t get any hassle; the last thing you need is the police turning up.

Entertainment

Whether you are hiring a local DJ or a live band, make sure the volume is acceptable and the music is varied and will appeal to your guests. Maybe a comedian during the interval will liven things up; people like to have a laugh as well as dancing to cool tunes and you can probably find a local comedy act on social media. You could hire a photo booth or one of the many services that vendors can provide.

The secret to organising a successful party lies in the planning; make sure that nothing is overlooked and your guests will have the time of their lives.
